Surprise Reward

Once in a while something fantastic happens that makes me incapabale of losing my smile. One of these "somethings" just happened and the smile not only won't go away, but I feel rejuvenated and pumped up for the crazy week ahead of me.
Ten years ago this coming August I started my first real, full time with benefits after finishing up at the "U" job - teaching for the Head Start program in Salt Lake. In this, my very first class, was a little boy who was wicked smart for a four year old - ahead of all the other students in EVERYTHING - it was a challenge to plan things that were advanced enough for him. I remember that he lived with his grandma because something had happened to his parents, and he challenged her, too. He had large, bright eyes and questioned everything. Well, this little boy is now a teenager and he just contacted me on FaceBook - asking if I was the same Katie Ricord that taught him in Head Start that year. YES I AM, I replied, elated to hear from him. I can't wait to hear more about what is happening in his life. Nothing is more rewarding to me then to know I played a small part in someone else's life that helped them be better.

That's all.

p.s. keep your fingers crossed for my program - this week is our huge federal review and i need to stay sane - i am actually exticed, though, for it to happen - because it will then be over and done with until the next one a few years out...
p.s.s. and i did finish my box (more smiles)
